Ther pursuit of happyness

The Pursuit of Happyness is a movie based on the true story of Chris Gardner. In the movie Gardner overcomes many challenges facing living in poverty. In the beginning of this movie Gardner starts out living an average life with his wife and son. One thing leads to another and slowly his life crumbles. He had invested all of his money on a "Bone density scanner" which he tries to sell to hospitals, only problem is that there has come out a more advanced technology, and his scanners are not selling. For this reason he isn't making any money and starts losing everything in his life. His wife leaves him with their son, and Gardner now having to face living without a house, money, car, food and having to take care of a young boy at the same time. His only hope was getting a job as a stockbroker but the only problem is that for this job there was a 6 moth training period , for a position that is not guaranteed in the end. There were many heart breaking scenes in this movie. One seen is shown where him along with his son are forced to stay overnight in a restroom underground in a New York subway, because they did have anywhere else to sleep. Despite all of his obstacles, Gardner stayed strong and pushed through everything he had, to make it as a stockbroker. Any other person in Gardner's situation would have just given up, lived in a homeless shelter, or became homeless. He stayed determined and in the end it payed off. He did finally get the job as a stockbroker and went fro having a dollar in his pocket to making millions as a stockbroker.

This movie really moved me. In one scene in particular, Gardner's son is playing basketball while he is watching him. His son tells him that he wants to be a basketball player when he grows up. Gardner looks at his son and says that will not happen, he is short so that means that his son wont be tall enough to make it as a professional basketball player. His son gets mad and throws the ball and accept what his dad said to him. Gardner looks at his son again and says, "Look there is going to be many people in your life who tell you that you cant do something. Many people cant do something themselves, so they tell you you cant do it. Don't ever let someone tell you what you can do." I live by that saying everyday because I think it is true. Also this movie showed that you can do anything you set your mind to, and even when times are hard you should never give up.
